Tenganan is occupied by Bali Aga people, the descendants of the original Balinese who inhabited Bali prior to the Majapahit arrival. The village is surrounded by a wall and consist basically of 2 rows of identical houses stretching up to the gentle slop of the hill. 

This pleasant, tranquil place is worth a visit and the people are welcoming. For decades visitors have been attracted to this 'living museum', may of them drawn by the geringsing (double ikat), cloth woven by the women of Tenganan. 

A walk through Tenganan is very interesting. You can see how the people live, some temples and some typical architecture. Here in Tenganan the people still practice traditional arts like making baskets and lontar leaf books.
